W3U Customer Support Monitoring web usage statistics for Classic and Premium accounts Web site statistics for Classic and Premium accounts are accessible through your administrative interface. Type, http://www.yourdomainname/siteadmin/, into your web browser 'location' text box, and then hit 'Enter' (on the keyboard). You will be prompted for your username and password (if you don't know your username or password, call us at 619 444 9186). If your login is successful, click on the 'Web Usage' button. You can then navigate thru your web usage statistics. By default, your log file rotates (restarts at zero hits) when it reaches 5 megabytes in size. If, for some reason, you need an alternative log file rotation scheme, give us a call at 619 444 9186, and we'll fix you up. Also, note that you can access your raw log files in your 'logs' directory. If using telnet, the log directory is located at /home/sites/site#/logs (where site# is your site number, which can be found in the account set up information that we emailed to you). You can also ftp into your root directory and then move up one folder in the directory structure (i.e. with ws_ftp, you would click on the two dots at the top of the 'remote host' window). Then click on the logs directory. When your log file turns over, the old raw statistics data is saved as 'access.1.gz'* (this file will be overwritten each time the log turns over). The new raw usage statistics log data is stored in the 'access' file, and it is the data that you view in summarized form at your admin interface. What about a hit counter? * The .gz file extension signifies that the file has been compressed with the gzip UNIX command. It can be unzipped with the command, gunzip access.1.gz or use gzip -d access.1.gz. Alternatively, you can download the file, and use the winzip program to decompress it (still assuming that your home computer is not a UNIX/LINUX operating system). Return to the main usage statistics page. || Back to FAQ's || W3U's Home || http://www.w3u.com/ |
